"Silent Night": Archivtour
15.05.2026
When the city grows quiet and the Ernst Leitz Museum is bathed in warm light, an extraordinary evening begins: with “Silent Night”, the Leica Archive opens its doors – a place full of history, normally closed, now accessible to a small group of curious explorers. On December 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the guided tour begins – an experience that not only informs but also enchants.
The moment you enter the archive, you can feel it: history is alive here. And yet, time seems to stand still. Original shipping ledgers, hand-drawn lens designs, rare photographs, and camera models that were never produced – all tell stories that can only be felt in this unique setting. The tour provides a framework, but there is room to linger, to look closer, to lose oneself in the details and visions of past decades.
“Silent Night” is not a traditional museum tour. It is a quiet walk through the soul of the Leica World – a nocturnal experience that connects technology with poetry, past with present, in an atmosphere reminiscent of a film scene. Anyone who loves Leica or is fascinated by the magic behind the mechanics will remember this evening for a long time.
The tours take place on December 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Leica World Archive in Wetzlar. The participation fee is €15. Please note: there is a second date on December 8, also at 6:00 p.m.
